About Us

The North Dakota Field Office of USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) in Fargo is one of 4 state offices serviced by the Northern Plains Regional Field Office (RFO), located in Lincoln, Nebraska. Data collection and analysis for North Dakota is done through the RFO. NASS continues to maintain a physical presence in North Dakota with an office on the campus of North Dakota State University in Fargo.

The primary mission of both the North Dakota Field Office and Northern Plains Regional Field Office is to provide timely, accurate and useful statistics in service to U.S. agriculture. Farmers, ranchers, and agribusinesses provide the information used in setting agricultural estimates by responding to voluntary surveys conducted throughout the year. Statisticians from the Northern Plains RFO analyze these survey indications and make recommendations about North Dakota agriculture to NASS headquarters in Washington D.C. Statisticians in NASS headquarters review the State recommendations and release the national and state information to the public on scheduled dates throughout the year. NASS issues over 400 national and 9,000 state reports annually.

All NASS reports are available online free of charge. You can obtain these reports by Subscribing Online. Contact the North Dakota Field Office by calling (800) 582-6443, faxing (855) 270-2720, or emailing nassrfonpr@nass.usda.gov.

The North Dakota Field Office works cooperatively with the North Dakota Department of Agriculture and North Dakota State University.
